Junior Cloud Consultant

Overview of the Role

As a Junior Cloud Consultant, your responsibility is to work alongside our customers and other Stark & Wayne consultants to advance everyone’s knowledge and skills. The right Junior Cloud Consultant will be expected to be fast tracked into a Cloud Consultant role within 6-18 months. This means that the Junior Cloud Consultant’s primary responsibility will be to level up in the following areas:

  • Cloud Native: Concepts, Architecture, Building, Operating, Integrating, etc…
    • Software as a Service (SaaS)
      Ex: “DevOps”, Middleware, and Application Workflows such as GitOps, and CI/CD
    • Platforms as a Service (PaaS)
      Ex: Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes, GKE, EKS, ECS, Fargate, Rancher, OpenShift, Anthos
    • Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) – Virtualization
      Ex: vSphere,Azure,AWS,GCP,AliCloud
  • Engineering Work
    • Assist as needed with contributing to Open Source projects, including release engineering
    • Write quality code using various technologies in order to solve operations problems
  • Community Education & Communications
    • Writing Content
      Ex: documentation, blog posts
    • Giving Presentations (“public communications”)
      Ex: speaking at meetups, user groups, conferences, “YouTube” recordings, etc…
    • Collaboration
      Ex: Participating in community efforts and special interest groups “SIGs”
  • Consulting Skills
    • Effective Communication
    • Project and Task management
    • Client Expectations Management
    • Customer Success

When it comes down to it, the skills required for this job are less about knowing specific technologies and more about the ability to learn quickly, execute on what you have learned, and communicate the learnings to clients, colleges, community, and, hardest of all, yourself.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strive to deliver thought leadership, design and implementations on Cloud Native solutions.
  • Contribute to the creation of Cloud Native roadmaps, including grooming backlog based on your experience and knowledge of what it takes to move large organizations.
  • Participate in the hands-on technical delivery of user stories.
